Inspiration
Hello, I am Clare, designer, maker, and founder of Clare Sheridan-Wallis Jewellery. I live in the New Forest with my young family, where the surrounding landscape is a constant source of inspiration for my work.
Working primarily in silver and gold, I use a range of traditional techniques—including acid etching, casting, and saw-piercing—to create texture, pattern, and form. My process is rooted in direct observation and interaction with the forest: I cast acorns, seeds, and other foraged elements, and use photography and sketching to study and reinterpret plant life such as leaves, flowers, and fungi. Animal forms, including birds, pigs, and stags, also feature throughout my collections.
Each piece is individually crafted, carrying the subtle variations that come from working by hand. My practice is deeply connected to time spent in the forest, where I gather both materials and ideas.
I also create bespoke commissions, working closely with clients to design and produce one-of-a-kind pieces that hold personal meaning.
Background
I graduated from Hereford College of Arts (University of Wales) in 2008 with a BA (Hons) in Contemporary Applied Arts. During my second year, I began working in small metals, where I developed a strong affinity for silver—a material that continues to define my practice.
After graduating, I continued to refine my craft in my spare time. However, it was my move to the New Forest in 2016 that marked a pivotal moment in my work. Immersed in its unique landscape, I discovered the creative direction I had long been searching for.
My jewellery is now deeply informed by my connection to the natural environment of the New Forest, which remains the primary source of inspiration for my designs.

I offer bespoke commissions, working closely with clients to design and create unique, personal pieces.
